Chemical Waste Collection in the Gympie Region

Gympie Regional Council have announced an upcoming chemical waste collection drop point for residents of the Gympie Region.

Most of the collected chemicals is incinerated and used to create energy. This means these pollutants stay out of landfill, soils, rivers and groundwater. Safe disposal of unwanted chemicals is a win for the environment and our beautiful part of the world.

Agri-Vet Chemicals

ChemClear is a national chemical waste collection program providing safe disposal of unwanted agri-vet chemicals.

ChemClear will be coming to Gympie in June 2019. These collections only happen every 2 years, so this is an ideal opportunity for primary producers and forestry operators to dispose of unwanted agri-vet chemicals.

Group 1 chemicals are collected free of charge if they meet the following:

  • With readable labels;
  • Still in original containers;
  • Not mixed with other products;
  • Within 2 years of expiry or deregistration; and
  • From drumMUSTER eligible manufacturers (look for the drumMUSTER logo on the chemical container).

A per litre/kg service fee applies for Group 2 chemicals that do not meet the above requirements.

Bookings are essential – register chemicals before Friday 12 April 2019 here or phone 1800 008 0182.
