Gympie Community Garden is holding a hot composting workshop, which is open to anyone, on Saturday 8 August from 8:30am to 1:00pm. If you want to improve your soil, then this is the one for you!
Graham Chapman will teach you how to make a three-bay compost system, and hot compost, using freely available resources. This is a hands-on workshop. You will help build the start of the three-bay compost structure and add the necessary materials.
You will learn
- How big the bays should be
- Where to put your compost bays
- The difference between cold and hot compost
- How to layer your compost
- How much water you need
- What materials to use
- How to know when your compost is ready
- How much compost to spread on your soil
Please wear sturdy closed shoes and bring your own chair, hat, gloves, water and a plate to share for morning tea. It would also be great if you could BYO compostable material and a steel garden rake if you have one.
Spaces are limited, so book soon here: https://gympiecommunitygarden.org.au/product/compost-workshop/
