Over the last few months Rhiaan, our Education and Events Coordinator, has been working hard to design and develop our brand new Junior Landcare Program. After much anticipation, it is finally time to get started on all of the amazing activities that we have lined up for the children.
We have had an overwhelming amount of interest in this program, and are extremely proud to announce that our registrations have reached capacity.
We now have a stunning group of 30 local children who are ready to roll up their sleeves, get dirty and have some fun at the same time.
Over the course of the year, these children will be learning about how they can contribute to caring for, sustaining and regenerating our local environments.
For the next 9 weeks the children will be creating a brand new ‘Food Garden’ here at our Gympie Landcare facility.
The children will learn various aspects of designing, building and caring for a garden so they can take these practical skills and put them to use in their everyday lives.
We will be incorporating a bush tucker section into our garden, as well as planting a range of edible herbs and vegetables.
