Membership

Becoming a member or renewing your membership supports us to support the Gympie community.

Membership fees go towards the pragmatic actuality of running a not-for-profit organisation. With decreasing governmental funding in this sector, we rely heavily on the ongoing backing of our community: from individuals and families, to community organisations and businesses.

Our Values: Ensuring we work as a team

Our values drive our processes, decisions and actions towards achieving our vision. In other words, our values act as our guideposts, ensuring that we work together as a team. As a member it is important you too are aware of these values.

We are Collaborative and Networked – we connect people with communities and the landscape, strengthen networks and bridge across different groups in communities.

We are Knowledge-based – we build, share and apply multiple sources of knowledge to achieve our Vision.

We are Inclusive – we include all people, groups and organisations and treat all with respect and dignity, knowing that while not all views align, we are all part of the Biosphere around us.

We are Focussed on making a Difference – we are vision driven and produce outcomes for the environment , for community, for kindred organisations, for our partners and for government.

We value the Knowledge and Cultural practices of Traditional Owners – we recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations as the first Landcarers, and value working with traditional owners to integrate cultural knowledge into our practices.

We are Non-party political – the diverse perspectives of Landcare communities inform our bi-partisan approach to working with governments.<

Code of Conduct: Keeping Each Other Safe

To ensure we provide an organisation in which all people feel and are safe, whether they are volunteers, members or staff, everybody who is associated with Gympie Landcare is expected to observe our Code of Conduct. While this is a lengthy document, in essence, this comes down to two key guidelines:

We treat each other with respect and dignity.

We act with integrity.

By registering as a member with Gympie & District Landcare Group Inc, you hereby acknowledge and agree to the expectations outlined in our Code of Conduct.

In accordance with our constitution, the management committee may terminate a member’s membership if the member—

  • (a) is convicted of an indictable offence; or
  • (b) does not comply with any of the provisions of the constitution rules; or
  • (c) has membership fees in arrears for at least 2 months; or
  • (d) conducts himself or herself in a way considered to be injurious or prejudicial to the character or interests of the association.
